VPS or a platform: which one should publish the system

Devora Cloud · Reviewed on

A VPS gives you the machine. A platform gives you the deployment. Compare both and see when your AI publishes on Devora.

Technical illustration. Features and regions depend on the plan, availability and application compatibility.

On a VPS you get CPU, memory and an operating system. The proxy, the certificate, the database, backups and version changes stay with you. That fits when the job is administering the machine.

On Devora the job is the system. You publish the code and the platform runs the build, domain HTTPS and the link to the database and S3. Your AI does that publish with a token if you do not want to operate the dashboard.

When a VPS still fits

When you need root, software that does not fit an application build, or a machine that is not a site or an API. Devora does not hand over that access.

When the platform is the path

When the result is a SaaS, an API, a dashboard or a site with login. You skip assembling Nginx, the certificate and the deploy script. The protection copy, kept off in the other country, is already in the plan. The matching VPS would be a second machine you own and start during a failure.

Frequently asked questions

Is the platform more expensive than a small VPS?

Hobby is US$ 5 per month, with 0.5 vCPU and 512 MB, plus the protection copy. A cheap VPS does not include that copy or the time to assemble the rest.

Can I leave later?

The code stays yours. Database and files can be exported, and backups follow the plan. The repository is not locked in.
